Mercerisation Process is quite popular during the Pre-treatment of Cotton Fabrics. We will explore the need to use Wetting Agents in Mercerizing process.
What is Mercerisation?
Mercerising process improves properties such as lustre, shrinkage resistance, dye affinity etc. Mercerisation process is carried out in a Mercerising Machine.
Mercerisation process involves impregnation of Cotton Fabric with highly caustic solution. Concentration caustic solution causes the cotton fibre to swell which results in bringing a change in the structure of the fibre. This results in improving the lustre of the fibre.
What are the different Wetting Agents in Mercerising Process?
Caustic Solution is the core ingredient in the Mercerising process. However, it is important to allow the caustic solution to enter the cotton fibre. Wetting Agents stable in caustic environments will be used to during the Mercerising process.
Starco Arochem Pvt. Ltd. has been manufacturing Aromerce NC Conc. for the last 20 years. It is a concentrated Mercerising Agent used in the Mercerising of Cotton. This product is stable in caustic environment and allows the smooth operation of mercerising process. Aromerce NC Conc. gives excellent wet-ability by decreasing the surface tension of the caustic soda solution. This results in rapid and uniform penetration of caustic liquor even in heavily sized fabric.
