What are Cationic Softenes?
Cationic Softeners are usually made up of Vegetable Fatty Acids as well as Amines. Amines are usually a cause for the yellowing in a fabric. Hence, it is usually noted that Cationic Softeners would cause yellowing in the fabric. This may result in yellowing of white fabric or shade change in colored fabric.
There is another quality of Cationic Softener which is a Quat based Softener. It is used extensively in Hosiery for providing softness and surface smoothness to the fabric.
Generally speaking, Cationic Softeners are preferred in Colored fabrics / Yarn while Non Ionic Softeners are preferred in White Fabric / Yarn.
Cationic softeners are available in basically 2 different forms:
- Hot Water Soluble Cationic Softener Flakes and
- Cold Water Soluble Cationic Softener Flakes.
Quat based Cationic softeners are available in Paste or Liquid forms
Cationic Softeners Used in Colored Fabrics
